Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Industrials, Basic Materials and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.80%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.78%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (EPA:RENA), which rose 2.63% or 1.00 points to trade at 38.85 at the close. Meanwhile, EssilorLuxottica SA (EPA:ESLX) added 1.63% or 2.78 points to end at 173.52 and Airbus Group SE (EPA:AIR) was up 1.22% or 1.60 points to 132.92 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were AXA SA (EPA:AXAF), which fell 3.60% or 0.97 points to trade at 26.00 at the close. Kering SA (EPA:PRTP) declined 2.89% or 14.60 points to end at 491.40 and Worldline SA (EPA:WLN) was down 2.67% or 0.96 points to 34.95.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Compagnie Plastic Omnium SE (EPA:PLOF) which rose 3.63% to 16.85, Forvia (EPA:FRVIA) which was up 3.60% to settle at 22.15 and Virbac SA (EPA:VIRB) which gained 3.25% to close at 254.50.
The worst performers were Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) which was down 32.94% to 3.07 in late trade, Imerys SA (EPA:IMTP) which lost 7.78% to settle at 32.50 and JC Decaux SA (EPA:JCDX) which was down 5.84% to 17.08 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 292 to 226 and 95 ended unchanged.
Shares in Airbus Group SE (EPA:AIR) rose to 3-years highs; up 1.22% or 1.60 to 132.92. Shares in Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (EPA:CASP) fell to all time lows; down 32.94% or 1.51 to 3.07.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.03% or 0.55 to $1,928.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.89% or 2.02 to hit $71.81 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.43% or 0.33 to trade at $76.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.15% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.13% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 102.95.
