Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.79%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.75%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 2.66% or 0.340 points to trade at 13.120 at the close. Meanwhile, Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) added 1.82% or 2.16 points to end at 120.96 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was up 0.97% or 1.25 points to 129.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EssilorLuxottica SA (PA:ESLX), which fell 2.87% or 3.80 points to trade at 128.80 at the close. Danone SA (PA:DANO) declined 2.60% or 2.10 points to end at 78.80 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) was down 2.39% or 8.85 points to 361.20.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Quadient SA (PA:QDT) which rose 10.11% to 19.38, Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) which was up 3.38% to settle at 214.00 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which gained 2.66% to close at 13.120.
The worst performers were Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which was down 6.59% to 10.00 in late trade, Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which lost 3.11% to settle at 127.80 and ALD SA (PA:ALDA) which was down 3.03% to 13.46 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 383 to 178 and 93 ended unchanged.
Shares in Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.59% or 0.70 to 10.00. Shares in Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) rose to 3-years highs; rising 3.38% or 7.00 to 214.00.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 10.03% to 17.09.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.81% or 27.95 to $1512.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.92% or 1.10 to hit $56.19 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.73% or 1.09 to trade at $62.01 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.68% to 1.0943, while EUR/GBP rose 0.43% to 0.8858.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.75% at 98.657.
