Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.72%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.70%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which rose 1.38% or 1.46 points to trade at 107.52 at the close. Meanwhile, Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) added 1.31% or 0.39 points to end at 30.11 and Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) was up 1.30% or 1.38 points to 107.26 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which fell 2.76% or 1.23 points to trade at 43.17 at the close. Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS) declined 2.62% or 42.50 points to end at 1577.00 and Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) was down 2.49% or 5.30 points to 207.60.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (PA:VLS) which rose 5.58% to 22.700, Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which was up 3.01% to settle at 43.50 and Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (PA:CASP) which gained 2.25% to close at 21.83.
The worst performers were Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which was down 4.85% to 219.60 in late trade, Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which lost 3.03% to settle at 22.42 and Remy Cointreau (PA:RCOP) which was down 2.84% to 205.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 335 to 275 and 87 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.02% or 0.30 to $1785.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.58% or 0.42 to hit $72.47 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.58% or 0.44 to trade at $75.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.76% to 1.1349, while EUR/GBP rose 0.81% to 0.8573.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 95.877.
