Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.70%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.75%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which rose 2.47% or 0.38 points to trade at 15.96 at the close. Meanwhile, Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) added 0.91% or 0.28 points to end at 31.02 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was up 0.80% or 0.07 points to 9.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which fell 3.79% or 2.29 points to trade at 58.09 at the close. Safran SA (PA:SAF) declined 3.02% or 3.14 points to end at 100.68 and Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) was down 2.37% or 2.50 points to 103.08.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (PA:VLS) which rose 2.54% to 23.440, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) which was up 2.47% to settle at 15.96 and Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) which gained 2.03% to close at 93.32.
The worst performers were Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which was down 4.96% to 70.95 in late trade, TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which lost 4.72% to settle at 5.41 and Elior Group (PA:ELIOR) which was down 3.90% to 5.67 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 357 to 244 and 93 ended unchanged.
Shares in Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) rose to 5-year highs; rising 0.91% or 0.28 to 31.02. Shares in Orange SA (PA:ORAN) rose to 52-week lows; rising 0.80% or 0.07 to 9.00. Shares in Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) rose to 52-week highs; rising 2.03% or 1.86 to 93.32.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.23% or 4.15 to $1788.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.18% or 0.13 to hit $71.54 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.32% or 0.24 to trade at $74.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.16% to 1.1293, while EUR/GBP rose 0.32% to 0.8548.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 96.248.
