Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.62%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.57%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE), which rose 1.68% or 0.390 points to trade at 23.570 at the close. Meanwhile, Air Liquide SA (PA:AIRP) added 1.62% or 1.90 points to end at 119.10 and EssilorLuxottica SA (PA:ESLX) was up 1.30% or 1.75 points to 136.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP), which fell 12.86% or 3.35 points to trade at 22.70 at the close. Renault SA (PA:RENA) declined 3.49% or 1.66 points to end at 45.76 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was down 3.44% or 0.472 points to 13.230.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) which rose 2.47% to 95.50, Television Francaise 1 SA (PA:TFFP) which was up 1.97% to settle at 7.520 and Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) which gained 1.82% to close at 122.90.
The worst performers were Maisons du Monde SAS (PA:MDM) which was down 15.60% to 12.390 in late trade, Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) which lost 12.86% to settle at 22.70 and Eutelsat Communications SA (PA:ETL) which was down 7.96% to 17.00 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 306 to 243 and 104 ended unchanged.
Shares in Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) rose to 5-year highs; rising 1.68% or 0.390 to 23.570. Shares in Renault SA (PA:RENA) fell to 5-year lows; down 3.49% or 1.66 to 45.76. Shares in EssilorLuxottica SA (PA:ESLX) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.30% or 1.75 to 136.80. Shares in Maisons du Monde SAS (PA:MDM) fell to all time lows; losing 15.60% or 2.290 to 12.390.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 0.65% to 13.76.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.19% or 17.85 to $1514.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 1.47% or 0.81 to hit $54.25 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 1.25% or 0.75 to trade at $59.49 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1147, while EUR/GBP fell 0.28% to 0.8615.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 97.132.
