Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.56%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.57%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP), which rose 2.14% or 0.41 points to trade at 19.52 at the close. Meanwhile, Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN) added 1.45% or 1.70 points to end at 119.05 and STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) was up 1.09% or 0.33 points to 30.49 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which fell 3.91% or 2.30 points to trade at 56.50 at the close. Danone SA (PA:DANO) declined 2.97% or 1.62 points to end at 52.98 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was down 2.37% or 0.33 points to 13.73.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Neoen SA (PA:NEOEN) which rose 4.03% to 47.75, Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) which was up 2.14% to settle at 19.52 and Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which gained 1.94% to close at 11.85.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 10.46% to 20.035 in late trade, TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which lost 4.33% to settle at 6.94 and Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was down 4.18% to 4.24 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 363 to 212 and 79 ended unchanged.
Shares in Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN) rose to all time highs; up 1.45% or 1.70 to 119.05. Shares in STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) rose to 5-year highs; rising 1.09% or 0.33 to 30.49.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.48% to 22.14.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.82% or 15.30 to $1858.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.62% or 0.26 to hit $41.75 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.50% or 0.22 to trade at $44.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.10% to 1.1840, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8952.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 92.525.
