Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Basic Materials and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.51%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.55%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Thales (EPA:TCFP), which rose 2.87% or 4.30 points to trade at 154.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Stellantis NV (EPA:STLAM) added 1.82% or 0.23 points to end at 12.87 and Publicis Groupe SA (EPA:PUBP) was up 1.73% or 1.75 points to 102.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Credit Agricole SA (EPA:CAGR), which fell 3.77% or 0.54 points to trade at 13.77 at the close. Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) declined 3.30% or 3.75 points to end at 109.95 and L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP) was down 2.76% or 9.60 points to 337.70.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Viridien SA (EPA:VIRI) which rose 10.07% to 38.04, Vallourec (EPA:VLLP) which was up 6.90% to settle at 15.58 and X Fab Silicon Foundries EV (EPA:XFAB) which gained 6.48% to close at 4.47.
The worst performers were Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) which was down 6.59% to 35.45 in late trade, SEB SA (EPA:SEBF) which lost 5.50% to settle at 91.00 and Nexans SA (EPA:NEXS) which was down 4.70% to 125.70 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 279 to 208 and 92 ended unchanged.
Shares in Pernod Ricard SA (EPA:PERP) fell to 5-year lows; losing 3.30% or 3.75 to 109.95. Shares in L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.76% or 9.60 to 337.70.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 2.67% or 73.50 to $2,676.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.14% or 0.10 to hit $71.89 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.41% or 0.31 to trade at $75.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.85% to 1.07, while EUR/GBP fell 0.70% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.69% at 105.07.
