Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.51%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.52%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Thales (PA:TCFP), which rose 0.98% or 0.92 points to trade at 95.04 at the close. Meanwhile, Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) added 0.78% or 0.32 points to end at 41.10 and Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) was up 0.63% or 0.57 points to 91.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which fell 2.33% or 0.96 points to trade at 40.25 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) declined 2.24% or 0.550 points to end at 24.030 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was down 2.05% or 2.90 points to 138.70.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Compagnie Plastic Omnium SA (PA:PLOF) which rose 1.57% to 24.66, Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which was up 1.40% to settle at 31.87 and SEB SA (PA:SEBF) which gained 1.14% to close at 133.50.
The worst performers were DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which was down 3.84% to 20.060 in late trade, Tarkett (PA:TKTT) which lost 3.75% to settle at 13.87 and Amundi SA (PA:AMUN) which was down 3.03% to 68.90 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 397 to 181 and 89 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 0.63% or 0.57 to 91.35.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 12.52% to 14.60.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.89% or 13.85 to $1566.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $63.03 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.13% or 0.09 to trade at $68.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1196, while EUR/GBP fell 0.33% to 0.8507.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 96.325.
