Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.34%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI), which rose 1.46% or 1.54 points to trade at 106.74 at the close. Meanwhile, Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) added 1.06% or 0.28 points to end at 26.72 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) was up 0.82% or 0.26 points to 32.77 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which fell 2.63% or 3.04 points to trade at 112.70 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) declined 1.64% or 0.59 points to end at 35.35 and Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) was down 1.61% or 0.56 points to 34.31.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which rose 16.29% to 19.20, Solutions 30 SE (PA:S30) which was up 4.69% to settle at 8.03 and Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which gained 2.81% to close at 12.42.
The worst performers were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 6.39% to 7.470 in late trade, TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which lost 5.54% to settle at 6.66 and CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was down 4.33% to 0.729 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 307 to 302 and 71 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.31% or 5.45 to $1761.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.32% or 0.26 to hit $80.78 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.07 to trade at $83.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.10% to 1.1540, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8483.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 94.445.
