Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.34%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.39%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST), which rose 2.37% or 3.45 points to trade at 149.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN) added 1.48% or 1.47 points to end at 100.65 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) was up 0.97% or 0.90 points to 93.28 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN), which fell 3.78% or 0.56 points to trade at 14.13 at the close. Accor SA (PA:ACCP) declined 3.54% or 0.80 points to end at 21.82 and Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) was down 3.17% or 0.43 points to 13.12.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Faurecia (PA:EPED) which rose 6.36% to 36.96, Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) which was up 3.57% to settle at 574.60 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which gained 3.22% to close at 23.41.

The worst performers were Dassault Aviation SA (PA:AVMD) which was down 6.39% to 732.00 in late trade, SCOR SE (PA:SCOR) which lost 5.70% to settle at 22.16 and Covivio SA (PA:CVO) which was down 5.61% to 58.00 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 347 to 224 and 87 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.07% to 24.50.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.73% or 32.85 to $1930.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $41.29 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.37% or 0.16 to trade at $43.62 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.80% to 1.1747, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.9125.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.79% at 93.638.
