Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.34%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP), which rose 0.90% or 2.20 points to trade at 246.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Total SA (PA:TOTF) added 0.80% or 0.35 points to end at 44.31 and Sodexo SA (PA:EXHO) was up 0.69% or 0.70 points to 102.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Thales (PA:TCFP), which fell 2.92% or 3.10 points to trade at 103.00 at the close. AXA SA (PA:AXAF) declined 2.23% or 0.47 points to end at 20.78 and Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) was down 1.83% or 2.35 points to 126.15.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Tarkett (PA:TKTT) which rose 2.87% to 12.90, Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was up 2.72% to settle at 16.230 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which gained 2.55% to close at 20.88.
The worst performers were Thales (PA:TCFP) which was down 2.92% to 103.00 in late trade, Television Francaise 1 SA (PA:TFFP) which lost 2.84% to settle at 8.540 and Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) which was down 2.79% to 114.80 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 334 to 197 and 111 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 0.46% to 19.07.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.36% or 5.65 to $1546.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.58% or 0.87 to hit $55.80 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.63% or 0.96 to trade at $59.99 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.10% to 1.1079, while EUR/GBP rose 0.35% to 0.9054.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 98.093.
