Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Utilities, Consumer Services and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.32% to hit a new 6-months low, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN), which rose 5.72% or 1.14 points to trade at 21.07 at the close. Meanwhile, Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) added 5.00% or 0.90 points to end at 18.91 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was up 3.80% or 0.38 points to 10.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI), which fell 9.50% or 8.29 points to trade at 79.01 at the close. Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) declined 7.44% or 3.23 points to end at 40.16 and Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) was down 7.40% or 23.90 points to 298.90.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which rose 15.00% to 0.97, Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which was up 13.08% to settle at 18.42 and Neoen SA (PA:NEOEN) which gained 9.80% to close at 38.56.
The worst performers were Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) which was down 9.50% to 79.01 in late trade, Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) which lost 7.44% to settle at 40.16 and Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) which was down 7.40% to 298.90 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 359 to 232 and 69 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 2.00% or 39.95 to $2,035.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 2.15% or 2.57 to hit $121.97 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 2.52% or 3.10 to trade at $126.31 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.85% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP rose 0.63% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.50% at 98.80.
