Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.31%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which rose 2.39% or 0.61 points to trade at 26.18 at the close. Meanwhile, Atos SE (PA:ATOS) added 2.10% or 1.58 points to end at 76.78 and Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) was up 1.14% or 1.20 points to 106.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP), which fell 2.17% or 0.61 points to trade at 27.51 at the close. Thales (PA:TCFP) declined 1.90% or 1.34 points to end at 69.20 and Accor SA (PA:ACCP) was down 1.83% or 0.45 points to 24.20.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Natixis (PA:CNAT) which rose 4.12% to 2.53, Remy Cointreau (PA:RCOP) which was up 3.44% to settle at 138.30 and STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) which gained 2.39% to close at 26.18.
The worst performers were Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which was down 3.67% to 29.39 in late trade, Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which lost 3.33% to settle at 68.02 and JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) which was down 3.31% to 14.92 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 306 to 252 and 105 ended unchanged.
Shares in JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) fell to 5-year lows; losing 3.31% or 0.51 to 14.92.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.58% to 25.32 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.51% or 9.15 to $1809.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.22% or 0.09 to hit $40.66 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.46% or 0.20 to trade at $43.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.47% to 1.1436, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.9106.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 95.925.
