Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.28%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.38%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Orange SA (PA:ORAN), which rose 1.92% or 0.19 points to trade at 10.08 at the close. Meanwhile, Total SA (PA:TOTF) added 1.90% or 0.69 points to end at 37.09 and Danone SA (PA:DANO) was up 1.50% or 0.82 points to 55.56 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kering SA (PA:PRTP), which fell 7.45% or 42.10 points to trade at 523.20 at the close. EssilorLuxottica SA (PA:ESLX) declined 2.46% or 3.45 points to end at 136.55 and Stellantis NV (PA:STLA) was down 2.15% or 0.29 points to 13.21.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which rose 15.66% to 57.54, Metropole Television SA (PA:MMTP) which was up 12.69% to settle at 17.94 and Nexans SA (PA:NEXS) which gained 7.82% to close at 72.40.
The worst performers were Kering SA (PA:PRTP) which was down 7.45% to 523.20 in late trade, BIC (PA:BICP) which lost 5.35% to settle at 45.32 and TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which was down 4.65% to 6.44 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 354 to 231 and 84 ended unchanged.
Shares in Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) rose to 52-week highs; up 15.66% or 7.79 to 57.54. Shares in Metropole Television SA (PA:MMTP) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 12.69% or 2.02 to 17.94. Shares in Nexans SA (PA:NEXS) rose to 5-year highs; rising 7.82% or 5.25 to 72.40.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.50% or 27.00 to $1772.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.50% or 0.30 to hit $60.35 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.73% or 0.46 to trade at $63.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.59% to 1.2033, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.8685.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.54% at 90.993.
