Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Gas & Water, General Financial and Foods & Drugs sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.27%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.23%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF), which rose 1.65% or 6.40 points to trade at 394.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) added 0.84% or 0.26 points to end at 31.32 and Legrand SA (PA:LEGD) was up 0.83% or 0.85 points to 103.45 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Alstom SA (PA:ALSO), which fell 1.60% or 0.50 points to trade at 30.71 at the close. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) declined 1.41% or 0.86 points to end at 60.02 and Worldline SA (PA:WLN) was down 1.41% or 0.69 points to 48.38.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Maisons du Monde SAS (PA:MDM) which rose 3.22% to 20.18, Ovh Groupe SAS (PA:OVH) which was up 1.97% to settle at 24.80 and Trigano SA (PA:TRIA) which gained 1.85% to close at 170.90.
The worst performers were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was down 3.36% to 0.644 in late trade, Valneva (PA:VLS) which lost 2.96% to settle at 24.940 and Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which was down 2.58% to 20.42 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 284 to 273 and 107 ended unchanged.
Shares in Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.65% or 6.40 to 394.40. Shares in Legrand SA (PA:LEGD) rose to all time highs; up 0.83% or 0.85 to 103.45. Shares in Ovh Groupe SAS (PA:OVH) rose to all time highs; up 1.97% or 0.48 to 24.80.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.35% or 6.30 to $1804.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.43% or 0.33 to hit $76.31 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.27% or 0.21 to trade at $78.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.26% to 1.1338, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8410.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 95.938.
