Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.27%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.38%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP), which rose 1.49% or 2.30 points to trade at 156.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) added 1.06% or 0.230 points to end at 21.840 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) was up 1.05% or 1.30 points to 125.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP), which fell 1.92% or 0.37 points to trade at 18.89 at the close. Renault SA (PA:RENA) declined 1.92% or 0.94 points to end at 47.80 and Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) was down 1.66% or 1.75 points to 103.55.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Metropole Television SA (PA:MMTP) which rose 1.62% to 15.69, Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) which was up 1.49% to settle at 156.85 and Wendel (PA:MWDP) which gained 1.36% to close at 119.10.
The worst performers were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 5.10% to 13.570 in late trade, Neopost SA (PA:NPOS) which lost 4.56% to settle at 16.32 and Trigano SA (PA:TRIA) which was down 4.42% to 81.10 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 381 to 158 and 99 ended unchanged.
Shares in Renault SA (PA:RENA) fell to 5-year lows; losing 1.92% or 0.94 to 47.80. Shares in Genfit (PA:GNFT) fell to 5-year lows; losing 5.10% or 0.730 to 13.570. Shares in Neopost SA (PA:NPOS) fell to 5-year lows; falling 4.56% or 0.78 to 16.32.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.88% to 21.89 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.19% or 2.95 to $1530.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.67% or 0.92 to hit $54.31 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.34% or 1.39 to trade at $58.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.35% to 1.1099, while EUR/GBP fell 0.74% to 0.9164.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 98.058.
