Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Financials and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.25%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.35%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH), which rose 1.87% or 11.40 points to trade at 621.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS) added 1.82% or 23.00 points to end at 1,284.00 and Alstom SA (EPA:ALSO) was up 0.74% or 0.13 points to 17.13 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Carrefour SA (EPA:CARR), which fell 2.16% or 0.32 points to trade at 14.46 at the close. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) declined 1.99% or 0.83 points to end at 40.93 and Bouygues SA (EPA:BOUY) was down 1.88% or 0.50 points to 26.07.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Virbac SA (EPA:VIRB) which rose 2.15% to 284.50, Solvay SA (EBR:SOLB) which was up 1.98% to settle at 84.40 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA:LVMH) which gained 1.87% to close at 621.90.
The worst performers were ICADE (EPA:ICAD) which was down 5.38% to 34.10 in late trade, Mcphy Energy (EPA:MCPHY) which lost 5.27% to settle at 10.42 and Nexity (EPA:NEXI) which was down 4.86% to 18.01 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 333 to 196 and 98 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bouygues SA (EPA:BOUY) fell to 52-week lows; losing 1.88% or 0.50 to 26.07. Shares in ICADE (EPA:ICAD) fell to 5-year lows; falling 5.38% or 1.94 to 34.10. Shares in Nexity (EPA:NEXI) fell to 5-year lows; falling 4.86% or 0.92 to 18.01.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.57% or 9.55 to $1,676.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.55% or 2.28 to hit $87.07 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.12% or 2.00 to trade at $92.29 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.20% to 0.97, while EUR/GBP fell 1.01% to 0.88.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 113.34.
