Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.25%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which rose 3.81% or 1.34 points to trade at 36.52 at the close. Meanwhile, Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) added 3.13% or 0.64 points to end at 21.07 and Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) was up 3.02% or 0.76 points to 25.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which fell 11.80% or 4.01 points to trade at 29.96 at the close. Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) declined 2.99% or 8.30 points to end at 269.50 and Worldline SA (PA:WLN) was down 1.85% or 1.38 points to 73.22.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Renault SA (PA:RENA) which rose 3.81% to 36.52, Metropole Television SA (PA:MMTP) which was up 3.76% to settle at 13.80 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) which gained 3.13% to close at 21.07.
The worst performers were Solutions 30 SE (PA:S30) which was down 18.69% to 16.14 in late trade, STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) which lost 11.80% to settle at 29.96 and Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) which was down 2.99% to 269.50 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 300 to 296 and 77 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.20% to 20.18.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.54% or 28.95 to $1845.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.48% or 0.22 to hit $45.82 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.59% or 0.29 to trade at $49.13 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.17% to 1.2080, while EUR/GBP fell 0.44% to 0.9021.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 91.047.
