Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.25%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.21%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI), which rose 2.60% or 0.45 points to trade at 17.76 at the close. Meanwhile, Thales (PA:TCFP) added 1.48% or 1.34 points to end at 92.08 and Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) was up 1.15% or 1.60 points to 141.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which fell 2.11% or 0.84 points to trade at 38.96 at the close. WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) declined 1.46% or 2.10 points to end at 141.65 and Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP) was down 1.44% or 2.45 points to 168.00.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which rose 3.80% to 51.960, SES (PA:SESFd) which was up 2.93% to settle at 11.60 and Bureau Veritas SA (PA:BVI) which gained 2.75% to close at 23.88.
The worst performers were Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (PA:CASP) which was down 3.79% to 42.44 in late trade, Trigano SA (PA:TRIA) which lost 2.63% to settle at 81.55 and Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was down 2.46% to 10.330 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 329 to 242 and 96 ended unchanged.
Shares in Bureau Veritas SA (PA:BVI) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.75% or 0.64 to 23.88.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 4.91% to 12.46.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.15% or 2.25 to $1472.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.04% or 1.68 to hit $57.03 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.51% or 1.53 to trade at $62.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.10% to 1.1067, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8563.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 97.835.
