Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.24%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Sanofi SA (PA:SASY), which rose 2.90% or 2.44 points to trade at 86.53 at the close. Meanwhile, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) added 2.87% or 0.43 points to end at 15.58 and Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) was up 0.65% or 0.70 points to 107.94 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB), which fell 2.29% or 1.40 points to trade at 59.81 at the close. Safran SA (PA:SAF) declined 2.02% or 2.14 points to end at 103.82 and Worldline SA (PA:WLN) was down 1.76% or 0.86 points to 48.13.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) which rose 2.90% to 86.53, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) which was up 2.87% to settle at 15.58 and Biomerieux SA (PA:BIOX) which gained 2.38% to close at 124.90.
The worst performers were Neoen SA (PA:NEOEN) which was down 3.19% to 35.18 in late trade, Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which lost 3.05% to settle at 42.28 and Derichebourg (PA:DBG) which was down 2.85% to 9.37 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 342 to 262 and 93 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.42% or 7.55 to $1784.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.59% or 0.42 to hit $71.36 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.50% or 0.37 to trade at $74.79 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.1319, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.8531.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 96.010.
