Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.22%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which rose 3.91% or 3.40 points to trade at 90.36 at the close. Meanwhile, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) added 3.81% or 0.50 points to end at 13.62 and Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) was up 3.12% or 1.93 points to 63.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which fell 5.32% or 1.39 points to trade at 24.75 at the close. LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) declined 4.07% or 16.35 points to end at 385.05 and Kering SA (PA:PRTP) was down 2.73% or 13.55 points to 483.20.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Imerys SA (PA:IMTP) which rose 5.30% to 33.38, Nexity (PA:NEXI) which was up 4.31% to settle at 27.62 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) which gained 3.91% to close at 90.36.
The worst performers were Akka Technologies (PA:AKA) which was down 19.67% to 19.36 in late trade, STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) which lost 5.32% to settle at 24.75 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) which was down 4.07% to 385.05 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 300 to 269 and 96 ended unchanged.
Shares in Akka Technologies (PA:AKA) fell to 5-year lows; losing 19.67% or 4.74 to 19.36.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.39% to 23.91.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.60% or 11.55 to $1942.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.39% or 0.58 to hit $41.02 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.71% or 0.31 to trade at $43.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.1734, while EUR/GBP fell 0.63% to 0.9063.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 93.593.
