Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.22%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Sanofi SA (PA:SASY), which rose 2.44% or 2.02 points to trade at 84.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Atos SE (PA:ATOS) added 0.94% or 0.68 points to end at 73.08 and Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) was up 0.79% or 0.85 points to 108.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which fell 2.66% or 0.394 points to trade at 14.444 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) declined 1.92% or 0.420 points to end at 21.470 and Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS) was down 1.57% or 10.40 points to 653.40.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were SES (PA:SESFd) which rose 5.78% to 12.27, Europcar Groupe SA (PA:EUCAR) which was up 4.02% to settle at 3.73 and Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) which gained 2.44% to close at 84.90.
The worst performers were Eutelsat Communications SA (PA:ETL) which was down 7.62% to 15.03 in late trade, Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which lost 3.89% to settle at 42.02 and Euronext (PA:ENX) which was down 2.72% to 67.85 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 328 to 232 and 105 ended unchanged.
Shares in Eutelsat Communications SA (PA:ETL) fell to 5-year lows; falling 7.62% or 1.24 to 15.03.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 6.31% to 13.25.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.59% or 8.65 to $1465.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.28% or 1.30 to hit $58.31 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.99% or 1.24 to trade at $63.64 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.1062, while EUR/GBP rose 0.08% to 0.8573.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 97.880.
