Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Utilities and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.22%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.21%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which rose 4.19% or 0.850 points to trade at 21.160 at the close. Meanwhile, Accor SA (PA:ACCP) added 2.10% or 0.93 points to end at 45.22 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) was up 1.93% or 2.20 points to 115.95 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN), which fell 2.38% or 1.80 points to trade at 73.80 at the close. Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) declined 2.06% or 0.250 points to end at 11.905 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was down 1.79% or 0.97 points to 53.12.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) which rose 4.19% to 21.160, ALD SA (PA:ALDA) which was up 2.79% to settle at 15.10 and Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which gained 2.51% to close at 81.800.

The worst performers were Eramet (PA:ERMT) which was down 9.39% to 135.10 in late trade, Casino Guichard (PA:CASP) which lost 6.09% to settle at 35.33 and Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was down 4.97% to 6.998 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 308 to 257 and 104 ended unchanged.

Shares in Casino Guichard (PA:CASP) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.09% or 2.29 to 35.33. Shares in Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 2.51% or 2.000 to 81.800.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.77% to 13.73.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.50% or 6.50 to $1303.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.36% or 0.23 to hit $64.98 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.43% or 0.32 to trade at $74.97 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.1717, while EUR/GBP fell 0.35% to 0.8754.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 93.86.
