Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.16%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alstom SA (PA:ALSO), which rose 5.93% or 2.71 points to trade at 48.41 at the close. Meanwhile, Stellantis NV (PA:STLA) added 4.00% or 0.54 points to end at 13.98 and Danone SA (PA:DANO) was up 2.41% or 1.32 points to 56.04 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP), which fell 4.55% or 2.05 points to trade at 43.03 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 4.49% or 0.91 points to end at 19.28 and Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) was down 2.85% or 0.44 points to 15.02.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Alstom SA (PA:ALSO) which rose 5.93% to 48.41, Stellantis NV (PA:STLA) which was up 4.00% to settle at 13.98 and Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which gained 3.92% to close at 177.80.
The worst performers were Covivio SA (PA:CVO) which was down 5.11% to 71.50 in late trade, Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) which lost 4.55% to settle at 43.03 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which was down 4.49% to 19.28 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 306 to 288 and 78 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.49% or 8.95 to $1838.85 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.20% or 0.63 to hit $53.05 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 2.14% or 1.17 to trade at $55.92 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.44% to 1.2129, while EUR/GBP rose 0.22% to 0.8907.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 90.487.
