Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.16%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.19%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Engie SA (PA:ENGIE), which rose 1.89% or 0.27 points to trade at 14.31 at the close. Meanwhile, Atos SE (PA:ATOS) added 1.63% or 1.20 points to end at 74.98 and Sanofi SA (PA:SASY) was up 1.51% or 1.15 points to 77.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vivendi SA (PA:VIV), which fell 2.48% or 0.65 points to trade at 25.54 at the close. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) declined 1.82% or 0.41 points to end at 22.09 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) was down 1.82% or 1.90 points to 102.45.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Biomerieux SA (PA:BIOX) which rose 3.02% to 76.85, Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was up 2.57% to settle at 16.370 and Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) which gained 2.30% to close at 35.540.
The worst performers were Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) which was down 6.27% to 103.10 in late trade, GTT (PA:GTT) which lost 6.25% to settle at 86.30 and Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which was down 5.45% to 45.59 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 292 to 270 and 91 ended unchanged.
Shares in Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.89% or 0.27 to 14.31. Shares in Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.45% or 2.63 to 45.59.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.12% to 12.95.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.07% or 1.05 to $1420.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.57% or 0.32 to hit $56.52 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.11% or 0.07 to trade at $63.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.13% to 1.1139, while EUR/GBP rose 1.53% to 0.9118.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 97.830.
