Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.15%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Thales (PA:TCFP), which rose 2.54% or 2.28 points to trade at 92.22 at the close. Meanwhile, Atos SE (PA:ATOS) added 1.47% or 1.10 points to end at 75.82 and Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) was up 1.36% or 0.30 points to 22.41 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which fell 2.01% or 0.85 points to trade at 41.40 at the close. Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) declined 1.78% or 2.00 points to end at 110.60 and STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) was down 1.68% or 0.410 points to 23.930.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which rose 2.95% to 97.650, Thales (PA:TCFP) which was up 2.54% to settle at 92.22 and Aperam SA (AS:APAM) which gained 2.44% to close at 28.98.
The worst performers were Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) which was down 4.07% to 76.65 in late trade, Remy Cointreau (PA:RCOP) which lost 3.43% to settle at 109.70 and Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which was down 3.04% to 10.040 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 320 to 265 and 88 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.07% or 3.25 to 76.65.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 2.80% to 11.48.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.11% or 1.65 to $1478.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.28% or 0.17 to hit $61.04 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.35% or 0.23 to trade at $66.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.28% to 1.1118, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.8498.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 96.965.
