Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.14%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Kering SA (PA:PRTP), which rose 2.59% or 12.70 points to trade at 503.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Atos SE (PA:ATOS) added 2.00% or 2.30 points to end at 117.55 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) was up 1.81% or 5.45 points to 306.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which fell 8.60% or 1.770 points to trade at 18.810 at the close. Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) declined 2.95% or 1.43 points to end at 47.12 and Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) was down 2.33% or 0.49 points to 20.52.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were SEB SA (PA:SEBF) which rose 9.22% to 161.10, Edenred (PA:EDEN) which was up 7.39% to settle at 33.86 and Technicolor (PA:TCH) which gained 7.18% to close at 1.150.
The worst performers were Eramet (PA:ERMT) which was down 16.08% to 91.30 in late trade, STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) which lost 8.60% to settle at 18.810 and Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which was down 3.86% to 71.000 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 303 to 258 and 112 ended unchanged.
Shares in Edenred (PA:EDEN) rose to all time highs; rising 7.39% or 2.33 to 33.86.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 4.44% to 13.03.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.29% or 3.60 to $1229.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.43% or 0.98 to hit $69.50 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.86% or 0.63 to trade at $74.07 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.08% to 1.1679, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8884.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 94.32.
