Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 lost 0.13% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Vivendi SA (PA:VIV), which rose 3.96% or 0.95 points to trade at 24.93 at the close. Meanwhile, LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) added 2.10% or 7.20 points to end at 350.45 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) was up 1.70% or 0.84 points to 50.61 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI), which fell 3.13% or 0.70 points to trade at 21.68 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 2.04% or 0.260 points to end at 12.500 and Thales (PA:TCFP) was down 1.88% or 1.86 points to 97.32.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Europcar Groupe SA (PA:EUCAR) which rose 4.25% to 5.64, Vivendi SA (PA:VIV) which was up 3.96% to settle at 24.93 and Air France KLM SA (PA:AIRF) which gained 3.01% to close at 10.175.
The worst performers were Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) which was down 3.74% to 95.35 in late trade, Eutelsat Communications SA (PA:ETL) which lost 3.64% to settle at 15.60 and TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which was down 3.13% to 21.68 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 304 to 254 and 92 ended unchanged.
Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) fell to 3-years lows; falling 2.04% or 0.260 to 12.500. Shares in Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.74% or 3.70 to 95.35.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 14.10% to 20.32 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.47% or 6.95 to $1483.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.46% or 0.25 to hit $54.44 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.38% or 0.23 to trade at $59.58 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.04% to 1.1198, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.9216.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 97.417.
