Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.09%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE), which rose 2.16% or 0.65 points to trade at 30.76 at the close. Meanwhile, Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) added 2.13% or 2.24 points to end at 107.24 and Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) was up 1.41% or 0.21 points to 15.14 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which fell 2.84% or 1.77 points to trade at 60.47 at the close. Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) declined 1.64% or 1.76 points to end at 105.50 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was down 1.56% or 0.41 points to 25.83.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Lagardere SCA (PA:LAGA) which rose 4.94% to 24.22, Biomerieux SA (PA:BIOX) which was up 3.13% to settle at 122.00 and Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (PA:CASP) which gained 2.98% to close at 22.48.
The worst performers were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was down 2.95% to 0.626 in late trade, WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) which lost 2.84% to settle at 60.47 and Technip Energies BV (PA:TE) which was down 2.79% to 11.68 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 320 to 284 and 94 ended unchanged.
Shares in Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) rose to 5-year highs; rising 2.16% or 0.65 to 30.76. Shares in Lagardere SCA (PA:LAGA) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.94% or 1.14 to 24.22.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.43% or 7.70 to $1777.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.23% or 0.89 to hit $71.47 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.21% or 0.92 to trade at $74.90 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.46% to 1.1290, while EUR/GBP fell 0.45% to 0.8545.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.38% at 96.243.
