Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.07%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.04%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP), which rose 3.24% or 0.78 points to trade at 24.82 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 1.76% or 0.236 points to end at 13.626 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was up 1.64% or 2.30 points to 142.85 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which fell 2.84% or 0.540 points to trade at 18.480 at the close. Atos SE (PA:ATOS) declined 2.36% or 1.54 points to end at 63.60 and Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) was down 1.90% or 2.00 points to 103.20.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which rose 3.91% to 48.59, Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) which was up 3.24% to settle at 24.82 and Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which gained 2.86% to close at 2.376.
The worst performers were Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) which was down 4.13% to 209.00 in late trade, STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) which lost 2.84% to settle at 18.480 and Worldline SA (PA:WLN) which was down 2.70% to 57.700 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 291 to 263 and 96 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 3.59% to 13.79 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.52% or 7.75 to $1495.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.78% or 0.97 to hit $55.45 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.61% or 0.96 to trade at $60.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.02% to 1.1121, while EUR/GBP fell 0.01% to 0.8639.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 97.315.
