Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 declined 0.06%, while the SBF 120 index declined 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR), which rose 2.57% or 2.30 points to trade at 91.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 2.12% or 0.27 points to end at 12.78 and Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) was up 1.99% or 0.35 points to 17.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM), which fell 2.71% or 0.93 points to trade at 33.36 at the close. Compagnie Generale des Etablissements Michelin SCA (PA:MICP) declined 2.30% or 2.45 points to end at 104.05 and Compagnie de Saint Gobain SA (PA:SGOB) was down 2.10% or 0.84 points to 39.24.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Iliad (PA:ILD) which rose 3.39% to 179.90, TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which was up 3.18% to settle at 7.47 and Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) which gained 2.57% to close at 91.70.
The worst performers were Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) which was down 6.04% to 72.35 in late trade, Compagnie Plastic Omnium SA (PA:PLOF) which lost 3.77% to settle at 28.06 and JC Decaux SA (PA:JCDX) which was down 2.99% to 19.79 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 366 to 220 and 78 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 0.86% to 21.21.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.57% or 10.35 to $1829.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.23% or 0.55 to hit $45.10 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.03% or 0.49 to trade at $47.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.08% to 1.2080, while EUR/GBP rose 0.77% to 0.9064.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 91.257.
