Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.03%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Vivendi SA (PA:VIV), which rose 1.79% or 0.20 points to trade at 11.40 at the close. Meanwhile, Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) added 1.18% or 4.10 points to end at 351.70 and Vinci SA (PA:SGEF) was up 1.13% or 1.02 points to 91.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Schneider Electric SE (PA:SCHN), which fell 2.34% or 3.74 points to trade at 156.16 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 2.16% or 0.58 points to end at 26.33 and Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) was down 2.14% or 1.14 points to 52.11.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Valneva (PA:VLS) which rose 10.05% to 22.340, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was up 7.58% to settle at 8.300 and Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which gained 4.43% to close at 75.50.
The worst performers were Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) which was down 4.88% to 409.00 in late trade, Alten SA (PA:LTEN) which lost 4.23% to settle at 144.80 and Faurecia (PA:EPED) which was down 2.72% to 44.28 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 318 to 280 and 105 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.29% or 5.20 to $1789.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.10% or 0.08 to hit $78.42 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.09% or 0.07 to trade at $82.24 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.45% to 1.1195, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8397.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 96.855.
