Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Oil & Gas Producers and Household Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 1.12%, while the SBF 120 index lost 1.03%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were EDF (PARIS:EDF), which rose 1.89% or 0.42 points to trade at 22.68 at the close. Meanwhile, Bouygues (PARIS:BOUY) added 1.89% or 0.67 points to end at 35.76 and Orange SA (PARIS:ORAN) was up 1.83% or 0.28 points to 15.31 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Technip (PARIS:TECF), which fell 3.98% or 2.40 points to trade at 57.96 at the close. Total SA (PARIS:TOTF) declined 3.22% or 1.50 points to end at 45.18 and Lafarge (PARIS:LAFP) was down 2.97% or 1.91 points to 62.50.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Technicolor (PARIS:TCH) which rose 2.25% to 5.910, Nexity (PARIS:NEXI) which was up 1.98% to settle at 37.58 and Bouygues (PARIS:BOUY) which gained 1.89% to close at 35.76.
The worst performers were CGG (PARIS:GEPH) which was down 4.49% to 5.92 in late trade, Vallourec (PARIS:VLLP) which lost 4.07% to settle at 21.57 and Maurel Et Prom (PARIS:MAUP) which was down 3.99% to 7.29 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 609 to 291 and 53 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 9.19% to 19.19.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.53% or 6.20 to $1160.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 2.94% or 1.47 to hit $48.53 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 3.58% or 2.10 to trade at $56.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.26% to 1.0716, while EUR/GBP fell 1.05% to 0.7098.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.86% at 98.47.
