Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Media, Consumer Service and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.55%, while the SBF 120 index lost 0.58%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA), which rose 1.62% or 0.16 points to trade at 10.02 at the close. Meanwhile, Technip (PARIS:TECF) added 1.34% or 0.80 points to end at 60.36 and Renault SA (PARIS:RENA) was up 1.23% or 1.06 points to 86.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Orange SA (PARIS:ORAN), which fell 5.73% or 0.92 points to trade at 15.04 at the close. Bouygues (PARIS:BOUY) declined 3.52% or 1.28 points to end at 35.09 and EDF (PARIS:EDF) was down 2.82% or 0.65 points to 22.27.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Innate Pharma (PARIS:IPH) which rose 6.25% to 10.880, Eiffage (PARIS:FOUG) which was up 3.70% to settle at 54.15 and Aperam (AMS:APAM) which gained 2.56% to close at 35.78.
The worst performers were Numericable Pr (PARIS:NUME) which was down 9.68% to 54.200 in late trade, Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which lost 6.67% to settle at 55.130 and Orange SA (PARIS:ORAN) which was down 5.73% to 15.04 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 528 to 378 and 58 ended unchanged.
Shares in Renault SA (PARIS:RENA) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 1.23% or 1.06 to 86.95. Shares in Aperam (AMS:APAM) rose to all time highs; up 2.56% or 0.89 to 35.78.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 4.36% to 17.57.
Gold for April delivery was up 0.22% or 2.60 to $1166.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in April rose 1.29% or 0.64 to hit $50.25 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 1.59% or 0.95 to trade at $58.87 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.0860, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.7184.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 97.62.
