Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Banks and Gas Water sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.09%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Safran (PARIS:SAF), which rose 3.46% or 2.11 points to trade at 63.03 at the close. Meanwhile, Gemalto (AMS:GTO) added 2.79% or 1.94 points to end at 71.35 and AXA SA (PARIS:AXAF) was up 2.64% or 0.56 points to 22.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Renault SA (PARIS:RENA), which fell 2.64% or 2.24 points to trade at 82.70 at the close. Valeo (PARIS:VLOF) declined 2.28% or 3.05 points to end at 130.60 and Credit Agricole (PARIS:CAGR) was down 2.11% or 0.270 points to 12.540.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Euronext (PARIS:ENX) which rose 7.19% to 33.98, Euler Hermes (PARIS:ELER) which was up 3.65% to settle at 96.43 and Safran (PARIS:SAF) which gained 3.46% to close at 63.03.
The worst performers were Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which was down 12.61% to 57.600 in late trade, Vallourec (PARIS:VLLP) which lost 6.65% to settle at 21.42 and Suez Environnement (PARIS:SEVI) which was down 6.38% to 15.860 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 494 to 417 and 50 ended unchanged.
Shares in Safran (PARIS:SAF) rose to 5-year highs; rising 3.46% or 2.11 to 63.03. Shares in AXA SA (PARIS:AXAF) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 2.64% or 0.56 to 22.00. Shares in Euronext (PARIS:ENX) rose to all time highs; rising 7.19% or 2.28 to 33.98. Shares in Euler Hermes (PARIS:ELER) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.65% or 3.40 to 96.43. Shares in Safran (PARIS:SAF) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 3.46% or 2.11 to 63.03.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 4.79% to 16.48 a new 1-month low.
Gold for April delivery was up 0.53% or 6.40 to $1203.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in April rose 1.08% or 0.53 to hit $49.81 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 1.82% or 1.06 to trade at $59.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.1359, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.7328.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.24% at 94.30.
