France stocks lower at close of trade

Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Beverages, Basic Materials and Electronic Equipment sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 0.26%, while the SBF 120 index fell 0.24%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Alcatel-Lucent (PARIS:ALUA), which rose 3.51% or 0.111 points to trade at 3.275 at the close. Meanwhile, Societe Generale (PARIS:SOGN) added 1.09% or 0.40 points to end at 37.22 and Credit Agricole (PARIS:CAGR) was up 1.06% or 0.115 points to 10.975 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Legrand SA (PARIS:LEGD), which fell 2.77% or 1.33 points to trade at 46.94 at the close. Pernod Ricard (PARIS:PERP) declined 1.90% or 2.05 points to end at 105.75 and Air Liquide (PARIS:AIRP) was down 1.54% or 1.75 points to 112.20.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Virbac (PARIS:VIRB) which rose 5.79% to 220.05, Genfit (PARIS:GNFT) which was up 5.13% to settle at 60.490 and Alcatel-Lucent (PARIS:ALUA) which gained 3.51% to close at 3.275.

The worst performers were Legrand SA (PARIS:LEGD) which was down 2.77% to 46.94 in late trade, Euronext (PARIS:ENX) which lost 2.47% to settle at 29.17 and Remy Cointreau (PARIS:RCOP) which was down 2.22% to 66.00 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 453 to 439 and 64 ended unchanged.

Shares in Air Liquide (PARIS:AIRP) fell to all time highs; falling 1.54% or 1.75 to 112.20. Shares in Euronext (PARIS:ENX) fell to all time highs; losing 2.47% or 0.74 to 29.17.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.32% to 20.20.

Gold for April delivery was down 2.39% or 30.20 to $1232.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in March rose 3.78% or 1.91 to hit $52.39 a barrel, while the March Brent Oil contract rose 3.46% or 1.96 to trade at $58.52 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 1.32% to 1.1326, while EUR/GBP fell 0.83% to 0.7426.

The US Dollar Index was up 1.20% at 94.78.
