Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 3.68%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 3.62%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN), which rose 9.13% or 2.11 points to trade at 25.16 at the close. Meanwhile, Renault SA (PA:RENA) added 7.72% or 1.77 points to end at 24.77 and Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS) was up 7.54% or 84.00 points to 1,197.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Carrefour SA (PA:CARR), which fell 1.28% or 0.24 points to trade at 18.09 at the close. Thales (PA:TCFP) declined 1.17% or 1.30 points to end at 110.15 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was down 0.75% or 0.08 points to 10.59.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Soitec SA (PA:SOIT) which rose 9.82% to 162.20, Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which was up 9.64% to settle at 16.04 and Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) which gained 9.13% to close at 25.16.
The worst performers were Dassault Aviation SA (PA:AM) which was down 3.07% to 129.60 in late trade, Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) which lost 1.28% to settle at 18.09 and Thales (PA:TCFP) which was down 1.17% to 110.15 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 468 to 113 and 71 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.24% or 24.00 to $1,905.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.63% or 0.61 to hit $95.83 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.36% or 1.36 to trade at $98.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.31% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.08% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 98.74.
