Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 3.36% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index added 3.22%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which rose 14.68% or 8.52 points to trade at 66.54 at the close. Meanwhile, Renault SA (PA:RENA) added 10.49% or 2.27 points to end at 23.96 and AXA SA (PA:AXAF) was up 10.37% or 1.79 points to 19.05 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Sanofi SA (PA:SASY), which fell 0.02% or 0.02 points to trade at 88.80 at the close. Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) added 0.28% or 0.26 points to end at 93.80 and Danone SA (PA:DANO) was up 0.32% or 0.20 points to 62.32.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Tarkett (PA:TKTT) which rose 16.60% to 10.96, WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) which was up 14.68% to settle at 66.54 and Coface (PA:COFA) which gained 12.15% to close at 6.83.

The worst performers were Biomerieux SA (PA:BIOX) which was down 3.50% to 115.70 in late trade, Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which lost 3.17% to settle at 67.90 and Eutelsat Communications SA (PA:ETL) which was down 1.79% to 9.57 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 393 to 195 and 70 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 5.29% to 28.30.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.81% or 31.40 to $1702.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.95% or 0.35 to hit $36.46 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.86% or 0.34 to trade at $39.23 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.60% to 1.1236, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.8923.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.41% at 97.263.
