Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 2.84%, while the SBF 120 index gained 2.80%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 6.90% or 0.65 points to trade at 10.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Thales (PA:TCFP) added 5.85% or 4.10 points to end at 74.18 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was up 5.00% or 1.72 points to 36.01 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Worldline SA (PA:WLN), which fell 0.09% or 0.06 points to trade at 69.02 at the close. Atos SE (PA:ATOS) added 0.11% or 0.08 points to end at 72.64 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was up 1.27% or 0.74 points to 58.80.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Coface (PA:COFA) which rose 8.17% to 6.62, TechnipFMC PLC (PA:FTI) which was up 7.93% to settle at 7.62 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which gained 6.90% to close at 10.00.
The worst performers were La Francaise Des Jeux Sa (PA:FDJ) which was down 0.55% to 30.82 in late trade, Covivio SA (PA:CVO) which lost 0.30% to settle at 67.40 and Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) which was down 0.28% to 574.60 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 443 to 141 and 88 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 4.28% to 34.12.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.54% or 9.25 to $1736.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.97% or 0.73 to hit $37.85 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.27% or 0.90 to trade at $40.62 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.47% to 1.1269, while EUR/GBP fell 0.36% to 0.8949.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 96.933.
