Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 2.49%, while the SBF 120 index added 2.42%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN), which rose 5.50% or 0.81 points to trade at 15.50 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 5.47% or 0.51 points to end at 9.83 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was up 5.43% or 1.89 points to 36.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP), which fell 0.10% or 0.10 points to trade at 101.60 at the close. Worldline SA (PA:WLN) added 0.05% or 0.04 points to end at 77.80 and Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) was up 0.62% or 0.95 points to 154.40.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Elis Services SA (PA:ELIS) which rose 6.54% to 10.92, Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which was up 5.53% to settle at 24.23 and Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) which gained 5.50% to close at 15.50.
The worst performers were Tarkett (PA:TKTT) which was down 3.35% to 9.22 in late trade, Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which lost 2.72% to settle at 36.065 and Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) which was down 1.68% to 204.50 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 385 to 200 and 77 ended unchanged.
Shares in Worldline SA (PA:WLN) rose to all time highs; rising 0.05% or 0.04 to 77.80.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 7.19% to 26.53 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.49% or 8.65 to $1788.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.85% or 0.34 to hit $40.16 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.24% or 0.52 to trade at $42.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.19% to 1.1228, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.9012.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 97.295.
