Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 2.39%, while the SBF 120 index added 2.17%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Stellantis NV (PA:STLA), which rose 5.69% or 0.86 points to trade at 15.97 at the close. Meanwhile, Safran SA (PA:SAF) added 4.39% or 4.34 points to end at 103.12 and STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) was up 4.22% or 1.82 points to 44.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI), which fell 5.79% or 6.54 points to trade at 106.40 at the close. Worldline SA (PA:WLN) declined 0.08% or 0.04 points to end at 46.35 and Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) was up 0.17% or 0.60 points to 363.30.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Stellantis NV (PA:STLA) which rose 5.69% to 15.97, Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which was up 4.70% to settle at 23.60 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which gained 4.46% to close at 26.68.
The worst performers were Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which was down 6.14% to 42.53 in late trade, Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) which lost 5.79% to settle at 106.40 and Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 4.19% to 7.425 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 442 to 181 and 84 ended unchanged.
Shares in Worldline SA (PA:WLN) fell to 52-week lows; down 0.08% or 0.04 to 46.35. Shares in Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) fell to 3-years lows; down 6.14% or 2.78 to 42.53.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.62% or 11.10 to $1787.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.77% or 1.17 to hit $67.35 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.91% or 1.32 to trade at $70.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.1324, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8509.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 95.938.
