Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 2.11%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 2.01%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Renault SA (PA:RENA), which rose 5.93% or 1.98 points to trade at 35.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) added 5.43% or 5.88 points to end at 114.22 and Stellantis NV (PA:STLA) was up 4.87% or 0.81 points to 17.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST), which fell 0.06% or 0.03 points to trade at 42.22 at the close. Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) added 0.11% or 0.02 points to end at 17.50 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) was up 0.14% or 0.01 points to 10.15.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which rose 9.50% to 0.828, Imerys SA (PA:IMTP) which was up 7.40% to settle at 41.22 and Valneva (PA:VLS) which gained 7.04% to close at 15.210.
The worst performers were Orpea SA (PA:ORP) which was down 20.88% to 43.66 in late trade, Mcphy Energy (PA:MCPHY) which lost 11.09% to settle at 15.47 and Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) which was down 5.75% to 21.32 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 394 to 177 and 80 ended unchanged.
Shares in Orpea SA (PA:ORP) fell to 5-year lows; losing 20.88% or 11.52 to 43.66. Shares in Korian Medica SA (PA:KORI) fell to 5-year lows; losing 5.75% or 1.30 to 21.32.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 1.23% or 22.80 to $1829.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.55% or 2.18 to hit $87.78 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 2.25% or 1.96 to trade at $89.14 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.10% to 1.1288, while EUR/GBP fell 0.21% to 0.8347.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 96.062.
