Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Gas & Water, General Financial and Foods & Drugs sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 2.03%, while the SBF 120 index gained 1.96%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Hermes International SCA (EPA:HRMS), which rose 5.05% or 53.50 points to trade at 1,113.50 at the close. Meanwhile, L’Oreal SA (EPA:OREP) added 4.92% or 16.30 points to end at 347.75 and Eurofins Scientific SE (EPA:EUFI) was up 4.90% or 3.58 points to 76.58 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were TotalEnergies SE (EPA:TTEF), which fell 2.90% or 1.42 points to trade at 47.64 at the close. Engie SA (EPA:ENGIE) declined 1.61% or 0.17 points to end at 10.38 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was down 1.15% or 0.24 points to 20.65.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Electricite de France SA (EPA:EDF) which rose 14.53% to 8.98, Atos SE (EPA:ATOS) which was up 9.37% to settle at 11.32 and Soitec SA (EPA:SOIT) which gained 5.31% to close at 127.85.
The worst performers were Valneva (EPA:VLS) which was down 6.83% to 10.36 in late trade, Faurecia (EPA:EPED) which lost 6.01% to settle at 15.55 and Gaztransport et Technigaz SA (EPA:GTT) which was down 4.86% to 115.60 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 304 to 227 and 101 ended unchanged.
Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) fell to 52-week lows; down 1.15% or 0.24 to 20.65. Shares in Faurecia (EPA:EPED) fell to 5-year lows; down 6.01% or 1.00 to 15.55.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.70% or 29.95 to $1,733.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.89% or 2.88 to hit $96.62 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 3.14% or 3.23 to trade at $99.54 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.91% to 1.02, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.48% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.60% at 106.96.
