France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 2.02%

Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 2.02% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index climbed 2.09%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which rose 9.35% or 4.96 points to trade at 58.02 at the close. Meanwhile, Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) added 7.17% or 4.26 points to end at 63.70 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) was up 5.91% or 5.22 points to 93.52 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Orange SA (PA:ORAN), which fell 0.54% or 0.06 points to trade at 10.98 at the close. Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) declined 0.43% or 0.65 points to end at 149.60 and Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) was down 0.04% or 0.01 points to 13.91.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Klepierre SA (PA:LOIM) which rose 13.39% to 20.49, Coface (PA:COFA) which was up 11.95% to settle at 6.09 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) which gained 9.35% to close at 58.02.

The worst performers were Biomerieux SA (PA:BIOX) which was down 5.66% to 119.90 in late trade, Ipsen SA (PA:IPN) which lost 1.49% to settle at 72.60 and Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which was down 1.44% to 233.20 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 412 to 174 and 71 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was up 1.04% to 29.88.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.03% or 18.05 to $1732.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 2.93% or 1.04 to hit $36.48 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.40% or 0.92 to trade at $39.24 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.36% to 1.1174, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.8911.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 97.645.
