Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.90%, while the SBF 120 index added 1.87%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Kering SA (PA:PRTP), which rose 5.33% or 28.00 points to trade at 553.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) added 3.61% or 2.51 points to end at 72.08 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 3.38% or 0.35 points to 10.84 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN), which fell 2.34% or 0.31 points to trade at 12.92 at the close. Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) declined 0.92% or 0.08 points to end at 8.44 and BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) was down 0.57% or 0.20 points to 35.88.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Eurazeo (PA:EURA) which rose 7.16% to 47.58, Faurecia (PA:EPED) which was up 6.95% to settle at 38.45 and Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which gained 6.88% to close at 26.87.

The worst performers were Vallourec (PA:VLLP) which was down 9.72% to 22.850 in late trade, Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) which lost 2.34% to settle at 12.92 and Maisons du Monde SAS (PA:MDM) which was down 2.25% to 13.88 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 361 to 202 and 93 ended unchanged.

Shares in Vallourec (PA:VLLP) fell to 5-year lows; down 9.72% or 2.460 to 22.850.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.48% to 25.24.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.84% or 36.45 to $1942.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 2.78% or 1.19 to hit $41.57 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 2.33% or 1.06 to trade at $44.52 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.54% to 1.1845, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.8889.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 92.720.
