Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 1.51%, while the SBF 120 index gained 1.46%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY), which rose 6.75% or 2.20 points to trade at 34.80 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 3.86% or 0.478 points to end at 12.868 and STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) was up 3.20% or 0.500 points to 16.120 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW), which fell 1.37% or 1.70 points to trade at 122.00 at the close. Veolia Environnement VE SA (PA:VIE) declined 0.32% or 0.070 points to end at 21.550 and Hermes International SCA (PA:HRMS) was down 0.20% or 1.20 points to 613.20.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY) which rose 6.75% to 34.80, Eurofins Scientific SE (PA:EUFI) which was up 5.60% to settle at 395.80 and Rexel (PA:RXL) which gained 5.16% to close at 9.22.

The worst performers were Metropole Television SA (PA:MMTP) which was down 3.67% to 15.74 in late trade, Television Francaise 1 SA (PA:TFFP) which lost 2.75% to settle at 8.305 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) which was down 1.37% to 122.00 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 340 to 208 and 99 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 9.74% to 17.21.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.75% or 11.65 to $1537.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.15% or 0.64 to hit $56.42 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.50% or 0.30 to trade at $60.23 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.22% to 1.1053, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.9062.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 98.412.
