Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.34% to hit a new 6-months high, while the SBF 120 index gained 1.37%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN), which rose 7.33% or 1.23 points to trade at 18.04 at the close. Meanwhile, BNP Paribas SA (PA:BNPP) added 6.06% or 2.60 points to end at 45.52 and AXA SA (PA:AXAF) was up 5.35% or 1.04 points to 20.47 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF), which fell 3.14% or 8.60 points to trade at 265.50 at the close. Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) declined 2.99% or 0.68 points to end at 22.06 and Dassault Systemes SE (PA:DAST) was down 1.68% or 2.80 points to 164.25.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which rose 9.48% to 0.961, Societe Generale SA (PA:SOGN) which was up 7.33% to settle at 18.04 and SCOR SE (PA:SCOR) which gained 6.91% to close at 28.16.
The worst performers were Biomerieux SA (PA:BIOX) which was down 4.20% to 116.20 in late trade, Remy Cointreau (PA:RCOP) which lost 3.92% to settle at 144.60 and Teleperformance SE (PA:TEPRF) which was down 3.14% to 265.50 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 385 to 210 and 77 ended unchanged.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 2.27% or 44.30 to $1910.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.84% or 0.42 to hit $50.35 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 1.31% or 0.70 to trade at $54.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.11% to 1.2281, while EUR/GBP rose 0.44% to 0.9062.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 89.710.
