Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.33%, while the SBF 120 index added 1.21%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 2.97% or 0.79 points to trade at 27.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Kering SA (PA:PRTP) added 2.76% or 17.80 points to end at 662.10 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) was up 2.74% or 1.56 points to 58.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bouygues SA (PA:BOUY), which fell 0.77% or 0.26 points to trade at 33.56 at the close. Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) declined 0.72% or 0.08 points to end at 11.54 and Renault SA (PA:RENA) was down 0.25% or 0.08 points to 32.09.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Virbac SA (PA:VIRB) which rose 4.41% to 378.50, Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) which was up 3.97% to settle at 78.60 and Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) which gained 3.35% to close at 166.40.
The worst performers were CGG SA (PA:GEPH) which was down 8.60% to 0.644 in late trade, Imerys SA (PA:IMTP) which lost 4.46% to settle at 36.82 and Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which was down 4.30% to 45.85 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 362 to 240 and 83 ended unchanged.
Shares in Eramet SA (PA:ERMT) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 3.97% or 3.00 to 78.60. Shares in Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) fell to 3-years lows; down 4.30% or 2.06 to 45.85.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.96 a new 6-months high.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.27% or 4.85 to $1799.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.55% or 0.44 to hit $80.88 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.59% or 0.49 to trade at $83.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.1590, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8469.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 93.983.
