Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 rose 1.27%, while the SBF 120 index gained 1.22%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 6.20% or 0.742 points to trade at 12.706 at the close. Meanwhile, LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) added 5.56% or 19.85 points to end at 376.85 and Kering SA (PA:PRTP) was up 4.20% or 18.65 points to 462.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pernod Ricard SA (PA:PERP), which fell 1.13% or 1.95 points to trade at 170.40 at the close. Thales (PA:TCFP) declined 0.96% or 0.94 points to end at 97.02 and L’Oreal SA (PA:OREP) was down 0.93% or 2.30 points to 245.30.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Compagnie Plastic Omnium SA (PA:PLOF) which rose 6.75% to 22.29, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) which was up 6.20% to settle at 12.706 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (PA:LVMH) which gained 5.56% to close at 376.85.
The worst performers were Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) which was down 2.34% to 56.880 in late trade, Genfit (PA:GNFT) which lost 2.03% to settle at 12.560 and Sartorius Stedim Biotech SA (PA:STDM) which was down 1.38% to 121.70 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 346 to 209 and 87 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ubisoft Entertainment (PA:UBIP) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.34% or 1.360 to 56.880.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 4.87% to 17.36.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.84% or 12.65 to $1500.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.46% or 0.77 to hit $53.36 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.01% or 0.59 to trade at $58.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.43% to 1.1016, while EUR/GBP fell 1.11% to 0.8885.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 98.390.
