Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Foods & Drugs, Gas & Water and General Financial sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 1.23% to hit a new 5-year high, while the SBF 120 index added 1.19%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Thales (PA:TCFP), which rose 3.69% or 3.18 points to trade at 89.44 at the close. Meanwhile, Capgemini SE (PA:CAPP) added 3.57% or 3.75 points to end at 108.70 and Kering SA (PA:PRTP) was up 2.95% or 16.60 points to 578.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Safran SA (PA:SAF), which fell 2.21% or 3.20 points to trade at 141.55 at the close. STMicroelectronics NV (PA:STM) declined 0.53% or 0.130 points to end at 24.450 and Publicis Groupe SA (PA:PUBP) was up 0.07% or 0.03 points to 40.09.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Vicat (PA:VCTP) which rose 5.81% to 40.95, DBV Technologies (PA:DBV) which was up 4.64% to settle at 15.800 and Casino Guichard Perrachon SA (PA:CASP) which gained 4.43% to close at 43.83.
The worst performers were Safran SA (PA:SAF) which was down 2.21% to 141.55 in late trade, Valeo SA (PA:VLOF) which lost 1.65% to settle at 33.40 and Getlink SE (PA:GETP) which was down 0.96% to 15.470 at the close.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 386 to 197 and 81 ended unchanged.
Shares in Kering SA (PA:PRTP) rose to all time highs; up 2.95% or 16.60 to 578.60.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 10.14% to 11.21 a new 52-week low.
Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.12% or 1.75 to $1479.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.25% or 0.15 to hit $60.13 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.41% or 0.27 to trade at $65.49 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.1143, while EUR/GBP rose 0.25% to 0.8361.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 96.630.
